MUA Haul and Swatches

I've been so blog-lazy recently, sorry about that! I've been swamped with work.

Recently while feeling a little poor and over worked I decided I needed a little retail therapy.
With not much more then £15 spare cash I knew whatever I got had to be affordable, but I also wanted to get as much as I could. I had been wanting to try out some more MUA makeup so I had a browse on the website and picked £12 worth of items. The postage was 2.95, which I could of saved had I left the house but hey, sometimes time just doesn't allow!

What I ordered:
Pearl Eyeshadows in: 5, 8, 21, 22
Mascara in: 2, 6
Eyebrow Pencil in: Brunette
Lip Liner in: Pink Me Up, Red Drama
12 Shadow Palette in: Undressed

Item Total £12
Postage £2.95

Total: £14.95
Result: BARGAIN!

All of the liners are really pigmented and smooth, then glide on really nicely, I used the brow pencil for my brows and it was a really good match, however I will say the brush on the end is very stiff and scratchy so be carful when using it! I actually used the spooly / angled brow brush from my Sedona Lace kit which I love. The mascara's are really nice colours but quite difficult to swatch.

These are the swatches from the Undressed palette, The first was in direct sunlight and the second was in the shade but still outside. The last two colours are actually of the left (first on my arm) as I ran out of space! Whoops. I'm new to this big palette swatching business. They were all swatched without a base and one single swipe.

The colours are really pigmented and a really nice selection of shades, I've used the palette 3 times since purchasing and I really love it. I love MUA, They have really good products for the price.

A Little Bio-shocking!

"A man chooses, A slave obeys"

While browsing Kotaku I came across this song by Brentalfloss. It's a tribute to the game Bioshock. For anyone who has played the game it's a hilarious insight. You can read the Kotaku post here
Two of my all time favourite games are both filled with art-deco surroundings and "pre-war" Jazz music (Fallout 3 & Bioshick) and this song has that wonderful jazz-y style and hilarious lyrics. I've had it on repeat for a while now. I say it's worth a listen whether you're a fan or not. But be warned if you've not played the's a little...well, Grim. So caution!

And if you're really feeling musical, here are the lyrics so you can sing along!

Won'tcha come on down to Rapture, jam a needle in your arm

It'll slowly corrode your genetical code, but it's all part of the charm
So you're a gross abomination, but in time you're gonna be...
So glad ya came on down to the best little town at the bottom of the deep blue sea

Hop in a bathysphere, take in the atmosphere, it's like New York, but with more fish
This unholy demon spawn looks like Joan Rivers in the morning,
but down here she's quite a dish

Aquatic nightmare drones are known to freely roam
with little sisters who require their help
I mean to tell you plainly mister, if that thing there was my sister,
I'd believe I'd disown myself, mahhh!

So you're stuck awhile in Rapture, and politically it's ...tense?
Libertarians scream, it's an Ayn Rand wet dream, and brother I mean soakin'
I'm not even jokin'
Don'tcha know the locals love the lifestyle, watch 'em scale the walls with glee
They're glad they came on down to best little town at the bottom of the deep blue sea

Try out the U-invent, it doesn't cost a cent, you're gonna love to mix and match
Just steal some glue from evil red guy, and a screw from smelly dead guy,
and you've made some crap from scratch

And there's this Atlas Joe, right on your radio, and he'll give you helpful hints and such
I bet you'll do his bidding blindly if he utters "would you kindly," but ohhhh,
I've said too much

So, you get a bit of story and a horrid killing spree!
Because you came on down to best little town
You're tryin' not to drown in this creepy town,
It really takes the crown though it's the only town in the bottom of the deep blue sea,
Forget Atlantis, it's the best little town at the bottom of the deep blue...
Somewhere beyond the sea, they spell it R-A-P-T-U-R-E.

My two favourite ladies are both having wonderful giveaway's at their blogs!
You can join one or both (Which I advise!)
These are both follower milestone giveaways! Congrats you beauts!

1. 17 Mirror Shine On Lipstick in Belle
2. Barry M Nail Paint in Red Glitter

This is a gorgeous selection of items and I was there when she bought them so I can vouch that they are all wonderful!

Current Wishlist

I want far too many things.
So many pretty things, so little spare cash!

I thought I would take a leaf out of my friend Jade's book and start blogging about things I want. For me it's a way of keeping track of the things I really want and I can look back at it and know what to save for. It might stop me from wasting my pennies on other things!

My number position is all over the shop!

1. MUJI 5 Draw Box - £24.95
There's nothing quite like some classy, minimalist, see-through storage boxes!
I have a lot of good storage for my make-up but what I use the most tends to end up lying on the floor infront of my mirror. I get too lazy to put it away every time so it would be nice to have somewhere to store it for easy access!

2. MUJI Desk Tidy - £6.95

I need something to organise my eye liners, I have far too many and I would love to group them into colours!

3. Inglot Gel Liner in colour 87 - £10.00

I keep seeing these used in a lot of Shrinkle's make-up looks and it's so hard to find gorgeous, high quality gel liners in a good variety of colours. I have used MAC Fluidline for years now but they don't have a good colour selection, the best was Blue Peep but they discontinued that :(
So when I discovered these I was in love and even better...I found out they have a UK online shop!

4. Sugarpill Loose Eyeshadow in Absinthe - $12.00

I just need to add this to my other Sugarpill Loose Shadows, they are beautiful!

5. Sanshee Bioshock Metal Pin - $9.99

"I am Andrew Ryan, and I'm here to ask you a question. Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? 'No!' says the man in Washington, 'It belongs to the poor.' 'No!' says the man in the Vatican, 'It belongs to God.' 'No!' says the man in Moscow, 'It belongs to everyone.' I rejected those answers; instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose...Rapture, a city where the artist would not fear the censor, where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality, where the great would not be constrained by the small! And with the sweat of your brow, Rapture can become your city, as well."

6. Skyrim Dawnguard DLC for PS3 - £???

I just want this in my life so bad. I guess it's my fault for owning it on PS3 T_T

7. LASplash Splash Proof Sealer - $6.99

I have been lusting after some LIT Cosmetics glitter for a while now but I can't really justify spending $12.95 on glitter....and then to top it off the glitter base is around $22 which is a lot for something you can't test. So I had a google to see if I could find a cheaper dupe for the glitter base and I can across this comparison by xSparkage. The clear winner was the LASplash Splash Proof Sealer....sadly, it's not easy to get ahold of here in England! I will keep trying though. They also have a lot of gorgeous glitter at more affordable prices.

What are you lusting after this month? :)

Treasure Tuesday 4: Olympic Gold

Olympian Attire!

For the first time in my life I've been feeling incredibly Olympic. Previous year's I have only watched Equestrian and Gymnastics but i've been finding myself watching sports I wouldn't usually. Even though the Olympics are nearly over, it's never too late to show your Olympic pride!!!

And of course you will need a copy of Cool Runnings!

5 Make-up Products I Couldn't Live Without

I was thinking recently, that there are some products I use a lot, some of which use every single time I do my makeup. I have tried to find alternatives to some of these but I am never happy with them, I always go back to the originals. So this is my "desert island discs" of make-up!

1. Tony Moly - Cat's Wink Mascara

This is a very recent one in my collection but I love what It does to my lashes so much that the other 5 mascaras I have floating around probably wont see the light of day again. For a long time I was using MAC Prep and Prime Lash with a mascara on the top (usually one from S&G, Benefit or MAC) but it always made my lashes feel too thick and heavy. Without the primer they didn't look how I wanted. With the Tony Moly mascara I only need one coat to achieve long dark lashes. I already have quite thick lashes so length is more what I look for and this delivers everything I want in one quick sweep.

2. MAC - Fire In Her Eyes Eyeshadow (Smoke and Mirrors Palette)

(This is the first shadow in the palette...that's the only one that's really been used) I have been using this colour as a brow highlight for years now and I am dreading the day it runs out. It matches my skin tone beautifully but because of it's light shimmer it more dimension and texture. I am still searching for a dupe in both colour and application but am yet to find one! HELP!

3. MAC - Cremesheen Glass in Loud and Lovely

I prefer lipgloss to lipstick but I hate how sticky a lot of it is. I absolutely love these, they're so creamy and aren't sticky at all. The colour pay off is lovely. It gives the lips a pinky glaze without feeling heavy and too bold. It's amazing for daily wear and as ever, the packaging is beautiful, really slick and minimal.

4. Too Faced - Shadow Insurance Primer

I actually got this second hand for a few quid. There isn't any where near me that sells Too Faced. I have been using UDPP (Urban Decay Primer Potion) for about 4 years now. In the last year or so I have been hearing a lot about this eyeshadow primer. Some of the Beauty Bloggers / Guru's that used to use UDPP started to switch to the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I felt it was time to see what the hype was about. I definitely prefer it to UDPP although I think they both do their job well. I find this primer a little thicker which I prefer and it also makes colours slightly bolder then my UDPP does.

5. MAC - Nylon Eyeshadow

My inner corner would be sad without this eyeshadow. I cannot use anything but this for my inner corner highlight. The colour is a white-gold-shimmer. I've used golden and white shadows but neither pleases me the way Nylon does. It's a bit of a mash up of both and provides a gorgeous highlight without being too "garish"

Re-found Love

6. MAC - Eye Kohl in Minted

I actually got this many moons ago and I used to use it a lot. However I forgot it existed until today. I swatched it on my hand and all the memories came flooding back. It's such an intensely beautiful deep emerald green colour. I love using this on my waterline to add a pop of colour

Round Up

So, quite a few MAC products in this, I've been a big user of the brand for many many years now, and although I tend to buy a lot less of it now I still have a lot hanging around, I love that their stuff is so pigmented you can use so little. This means it lasts so long, definitely value for money.

These items are all simple staples for me. Mascara, brow and inner corner highlights, subtle lipgloss, primer and an eye pencil! I could easily create a look with these products that I would love! So for me, these are my essentials, the bits I simply can't live without!

What are yours?

July Favourites

It's time to break my "favourites" virginity!

Most of these products for me are beauty basics, I've been working a lot so I've not had much time to pamper myself. The products on this list have been my little essentials to make me feel lovely and feminine in my time of need!

1.  Soap & Glory Clear Here Moisturiser
This moisturiser was recommended to me by Ali. We saw it in Harvey Nichols on sale and I decided to purchase a tube. I really wanted a light moisturiser I could use daily and not worry about it making the milia on my face 100x worse. I have been using this twice a day for about a month and I really like it. I keeps my skin moisturised (One would hope so...) and it also has spot fighting properties and BHA's which are also said to be good to help get rid of milia (even better!) so far so good.
I only have one issue, I find it hard not to squeeze out too much and for £9.00 for 50ml the last thing I was to do is waste product! However you only need a tiny amount for a whole face and after a month I still have plenty left

2. Vivienne Westwood Boudoir Perfume
I've had this for a while now, I managed to get it cheap in TK MAXX but shortly after I bought it I dropped it and it would no longer spray. It wasn't until recently that I discovered travel-size atomizers you can fill from perfume bottles and carry around with you. I figured I'd buy one and see if I could salvage my perfume...and HURRAH! It worked, plus I now have one of my all time favourite perfumes with me wherever I go!

3. Topshop Razzmatazz Nail Polish
See it in action here
My boyfriend bought me this when we were in london, I had been eyeing it up for a while because it's such a gorgeous colour. I love topshop glitter polishes because they're very good quality and have the most incredible holographic glitter in them, I will be purchasing all the other glitters when I have the money!

4. Soap & Glory A Great Kisser Lip Moisture Balm (Coconut)
I love this lip balm. My lips get really dry and are almost always like it, but this lip balm is so nice, it goes on quite thickly but I like this as it really lasts, It's not sticky and each one has a lovely scent and taste yummy too. I have the coconut and peach ones and I take them everywhere with me. I really like this one as it goes on clear but has teeny tiny glitter in to add dimension to your lips!

5. Tony Moly Cats Wink Mascara (Volume and Longlash)
Tony Moly are a company I've very recently come across but they really have the most adorable packaging. I am a huge fan of cute packaging but I don't like to invest just on that basis. I read a lot of reviews and saw some really good ones. Jade from Jetley Mess had just bought one and said it was amazing so I figured it was finally time to invest. I got the Volume and Longlash mascara. It's the most amazing mascara I have ever used (And I've used mascaras from Benefit, MAC, Urban Decay and many drug store brands) It really seperates my lashes, it lengthens them and leaves them looking luscious and tidy! I will probably restock on this way before my current one runs out!
